At the end of the day the primary reason for getting extensions is to make you look and feel fabulous.

There are many elements involved with the cost with one of the main factors being the material used. Real hair or synthetic hair? Real human hair undoubtedly gives the best results and can be better matched to your own head of hair. It is for this reason that you will be paying more for it. The other factors in cost are the color of the extensions, where it has come from and what treatment it has undergone to preserve it.

At the cheaper end of the scale and the most common of real hair extensions will be those coming from Asia, Italy or Spain. What makes these the most popular is that the original color is dark and can be more flexible to work with when making alterations? Due to being manipulated in such ways as coloring, this hair can already be partially damaged due to treatment and can be undesirable. If you are willing to pay for so-called ‘virgin’ hair, it will be completely natural – no coloring or chemicals are involved.

Synthetic hair is a lot cheaper than real hair extensions but unfortunately will never look like your real hair. If you are not so serious about the end look and just want to experiment than synthetic hair should suffice. Otherwise stick with real hair extensions and have a good look around to compare prices.

Realistically you will have to pay a minimum of $300 for real hair extensions that are added to your own hair through way of hot fusion or bonding – a method carried out with glue. To have hair extensions weaved and without glue the cost is roughly $1,200.
